Bought these reels to pair with Lamiglas 7040c rods for offshore bottom/wreck fishing. Honestly I haven't used them yet but they seem like they will pair well and get the job done.

AWESOME

Everything I want in a reel. I'm more of a bottom fisherman, fishing deep water through New England along with fall Blackfishing. Excellent for both applications!!!
ProsLight weight, drag, smooth

Very good reel for the price.

I purchased this reel to replace a diawa saltist that I use for live bait trolling for kings. The diawa keep breaking springs for the clicker so I wanted something a little more robust. For the price, this is a great reel so far. Not as smooth as a Shimano Talica but also not nearly as expensive.
ProsGreat fit and finish. Loud clicker. Smooth free spool.
ConsHad to send the first one I purchased back to get an updated clicker. But accurate told me the new ones come with the updated clicker.

GREAT REELS
May 10, 2019
This is my second set of FX-500, these reels have the smoothest drag. The clicker is nice and loud when a fish hits the live bait. Have them paired with 7'6'', 20-40 fast action rods. This makes for a great king mackerel set up.

Accurate Fury

Great reel! I took it on a overnight tuna trip out of San Diego and had a blast. Although I used the 1 speed 4:1 gear ratio because of the slow pitch jigs used aka butterfly etc. it didn't require a high speed yoyo reel so it worked just fine. Most of my bites were on the downfall anyhow.

always thought the doulble drag reels were ok, but prefered Avet

single drag.....Meh. If you are insistent on buying a Accurate go with the double drag models, little bit more cash but more drag

Awesome reel
August 2, 2017
This Accurate is the first "small" Accurate I have owned with others being 80s and a 130. It is incredibly smooth, has great stopping power on small - medium tuna, while light enough to fish all day. Superior craftsmanship.
ProsBalance Power Lightweight Dependability Attractive
ConsHave not yet found one

I am most pleased with this reel. I have only had a chance to use it four time to date. All bottom fishing (grouper and snapper) I love it.

My new favorite reel
June 8, 2017
I have been a fan of Accurate products since using their frames years ago and recently upgraded. I wanted a narrow spool for my 8' jig stick that I had been using a Newell on for many years with great results, especially casting. I was not sure if the Accurate would cast as well but it sure does! Everything about this reel is amazing, even the way it sounds! I could not be happier with my purchase and this reel is worth every penny - it's really a great deal compared to the twin drags.

Accurate 400-GS Single speed
August 24, 2016
Purchased this reel to do some kelp patty hopping on 3 day trip in Baja Mexico. The reel is very smooth, holds enough line to even reel larger species such as yellowfin and bluefin in 40-80 lb range. it casts 30 lb test with no problems. drag is super smooth. Used this reel to use lighter lines for smaller yellowfin and bluefin. The reel worked flaullessly. Very fsat line retreive cause the sppol is small. But wow this reel will be a blast on some yellowtail amber jacks and dorado. Can't say anything bad about this reel.
ProsJust plain Awesome
ConsSoft rubber handle. can be cut by line.

Weight Comparison
April 22, 2016
Saw the Specification stated on your FX400X Gold (Weight is 567g) at $244USD. The FX500X (Weight 624g) at $222.99USD, I am quite confuse which one to choose. Their Gear Ratio both are 6 : 1. Can you explain why the FX500X is heavier ?? Thanks / Bernard

Great All Around Reel
December 22, 2014
This reel is well made and features a very smooth drag system. I have used this reel for everything including bass, blues, blackfish, fluke, cod and more. The reel is very reliable and will perform when taken out to battle. Its a great all around reel especially for the price and I would recommend it to any angler.
