perfect for refined live baiting
September 12, 2020
It is sticky sharp out of the box and will likely bend open vs snapping when under overwhelming pressure. Granted, it is a light wire hook and I would not recommend fishing more than 8# of drag with it. I have landed 2 bluefin tuna in the mid 30# range on the no. 2 and that is probably the limit of these hooks.
Proslight wire enables bait to swim well
Consnot for anything about 30# tackle- can handle fish over 30#, but cannot be horsed.

Owner hooks are by far my favorite hooks, they hold their sharpness after countless fish and have yet to ever straighten out on me when i’m putting the brakes on a fish

Great hooks for bait fishing

I like the light wire circle hooks for bait fishing. The are much lighter so your bait can swim more freely. Great for fishing for smaller and midsize fish, definitely don't want to hook into a 100 pound tuna.
Proslively presentation of bait

Excellent light(er) wire hook

The material is better for pinning smaller baits, down to (larger) anchovies. Maybe best for 3.5" chovies or bigger.

Great for smaller fish in the surf
October 11, 2013
The lightwire mutu is one of my go to circle hooks for baitfish in the surf. Extremely sharp and fairly strong for a lighter hook. If a fish bites, I have no doubt that it has been hooked. I typically use them for spot/kingfish/small blues/ and whatever smaller fish are around. I have also landed many nice puppy drum and mid 30" stripers on them with a light drag. I wouldn't suggest them for fish this large but they can handle it if played right.
ProsSuper sharp out of the package Good design that catches fish as a circle hook should
ConsPoint dulls fast in surf conditions Small barb allows for dropped fish

Versatile hook

Especially good for using live bait, it's easy to cast without havin to worry about the fish coming off during the cast. As with all circle hooks I have to remind myself the hook sets itself when a fish takes it.
