Very Versatile
March 25, 2020
These lures have great action and they are very versatile with the different size options. I love these for targeting striped bass when the sand eels are thick, but they are also great offshore for tune when they are feeding on lantern fish. The smallest size can also be rigged with a little extra weight and assist hook to target the finicky tuna.
ProsGreat action Great profile Great versatility
ConsThe tail can not handle a lot of fish or anything with teeth and does not last long.

We troll and jig these in pink and green. The soft tail is strong but you'll need replacements. Also, be sure to wash these down after use or being on the water.

Friend had these and they worked, so I tried a few. Stripers, blues seem to like them just fine. Heavy heads allow good casting distance.
ProsGood for casting from beach, jetty or boat. Good action. Good hook.
ConsJelly is very long and schoolies can hammer the tail to bits without reaching the hook.

I've had success on the RonZ lures, i have caught school and medium bluefin on the green and blue tails. It all depends on the what bait you are trying to match. Overall, a great presentation and action that competitors cannot come close to!

Great Bait but watch which size you buy

Bait is exactly as advertised - my fault for buying something small enough to use in fresh water but the pictures and displays on the Web are easy to confuse

RonZ...Awesumundo!
January 2, 2015
Couldn't help myself towards the FonZ reference, won't happen again....I've been using these for offshore baits with the supplied heads or rigged to a jet-style head alone or as a dead/ strip bait replacement while trolling. These won't fall off at higher speeds and the action is superb but mostly, these get bit!! I use the original heads for lighter applications like casting at structure (around rigs, weedlines, and pinnacles). AJ's, jacks, cuda, kings and snapper will crush these when you give 'em what they want--jigged or ripped. Wahoo and mahi like 'em too. Haven't had the chance to land any tuna on 'em yet but the big game heads are heavy and stout enough to do the job as seen on videos. Applications are limited only by imagination. GREAT product.
ProsWell made, decent variety of colors, scented, extremely versatile.
ConsNone really--more colors would be nice but a color pen and creativity can work wonders...

Great Taper

I love the gradual taper down to the tail. The soft plastic has great action. I am not a fan of the jig head design though. Also I find the price is a bit high.

Excellent soft bait
November 21, 2013
Deep or skinny water this is a great soft bait! The shape of these heads get right to the bottom even when using lite heads. The swim great in the strong back bay currents. Landed this 22" weakie on an 8" black in 7' of water
ProsYou don't have to use a big head to get to the bottom. Swims well in strong current.

Killer

These Ron Z soft baits coupled with the tin heads are incredible fish catching machines. I fish the south side of Cape Cod, MA, around the Monomoy rips, east of Chatham and Nantucket. They are incredibly easy to fish, jigging, trolling, casting, dead sticking, you really can't go wrong. I've found pink, black and white to be the most effective colors. The Tin heads are what give them a great wobble, making them so easy to fish.
ProsIncredibly easy to use Hardware is high quality Versatile
ConsNothing

Ronz for stripers
August 31, 2012
A Ronz (or the very close Hogy) are my go to baits for Stripers out on Cape Cod. The small sizes do the Sand eel and the larger ones, the standard eels. So many ways to use it. Bouncing the bottom in deep channels, jigging the mid sections, or swimming it on top. An amazing bait that puts fish in the boat year after year.
ProsBeginner or pro this is an easy bait to use. Just keep workin it, they will bite.
