Great all around rod!
August 13, 2021
Picked one up last year, never had such a quality rod. Use for freshwater bass in the Northeast. Caught some great fish on it, throwing spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, texas rigs, swimjigs, even drop shots. Super sensitive, but super strong. Dragged some big ones out the weeds with it. Great all-around rod.
Prosvery versatile for bank fishing
Great rod

What isn’t there to say about a St. Croix rod? I own the 8 footer MH I use for tarpon on the beach. It’s light strong and durable. Ive had it for 12 yrs. and it’s still going strong. Better yet, its a st croix and backed by their legendary warranty and customer support. If you don’t know about how these guys back their rods, look it up. Best in the business. Most of their higher end models are made right here in the USA also. What more do you want?

Paied this rod with a 4000 stratic for inshore fishing and it is a great combo. Good for trout, rockfish, flounder, puppy drum, and sheepshead. Rod is sensitive enough to feel the bite and plenty of backbone to bring in the big one!

Rod can do it all

Love the 8' versions to do it all. Set at a price point that makes it easy to get into a premium rod. Pretty tough guides!

Great inshore rods
November 20, 2019
I love the Tidewater series! Not only are they affordable but they are great inshore rods. I have 3 of them and use them for stripers, blues, albies, blackfish and other bottom fishing species. To me they are the perfect all around inshore rod.

Fantastic light rod for casting small lures, using it often for sight casting to flats feeders and couldn't be happier. Light to carry, casts very well and plenty of backbone for larger fish.

Good all around inshore rod
March 16, 2019
Very high quality. I compared this rod to St Croix Avid inshore models and decided I liked Tidemaster better. Light weight and has a nice soft action, compared to my St Croix 7' MH Premier.
ProsUSA product

All over Georgia coast
St Croix tidemaster
December 24, 2018
Paired this with regular shimano Stradic, 15# fins windtamer, 25 # leader and throw jerkbaits up into Georgia marsh grass and crush the reds. 7 foot 6 inch mh fast. Too heavy for the light jigs I throw for trout but perfect for a big weighted jerk bait. I have also used it with a weighted popping cork. It has a little too stiff action for my liking for the popping cork. Medium fast would probably work better for my style.

Fantastic light rod
December 17, 2018
I have three of these rods primarily for casting for schooling stripers and shallow water casting. I've caught small perch to 23" stripers with this rod. It's a tough rod and has great sensitivity.
ProsI don't have to worry about a broken tip while hooking up with a 10 or 15 lb striper.
ConsExpensive. I've found some custom rods for less money but I am not sure if they are as good.

I use these for inshore Reds, Flounder and anything else that may bite. I also throw them at a pond across the street from my house for bass when I can’t get out in the saltwater. Probably won’t ever buy anything other than the Tidemaster again.

This is the second Tidemaster I've purchased for fishing in New Jersey. I originally purchase the 7' and wanted a beefier rod for spring striper. Pleased with this purchase.

Go to Kayak Rod
March 11, 2018
I use the 3/4-2 rated rod as my go to kayak rod, i have it in both spinning and conventional. I am primarily targeting bottom fish but on the occasion blues or stripers get in the mix this has the power to handle them as well.
ProsLight, strong and durable.

I'm a St.Croix guy, so I'm a little biased towards their products, but the tidemaster series is perfect for all inshore fishing applications! I use them from my kayak for stripers and blues out east in New York and CT and it handles well across the board!
ProsGreat movement and sensibility
Conswill break easily if you don't tale care of it well!

great middle of the road rod
October 7, 2015
Bought this rod for my wife, paired with a shimano stradic 3000fj. Great combo for jetty and bay fishing. Tidemaster seem to be good choice rod for under $200. Never have issues with St Croix rods and think they offer a dramatic selection for anything you're fishing for.

My go to rod
September 28, 2015
I love this rod. It's my workhorse,I have it paired up with a VS VM150 loaded with 30lb braid. I have landed Fluke to 9lbs with it and it has the backbone to stand up much larger fish....hopefully it sees some striper action soon.
ProsAmerican made Fast tip Comfortable grip

Good plugging rod
August 30, 2015
Bought TIS70HF for plugging sod banks for stripers and bluefish. No stripers yet but a few nice bluefish. It Replaced a similar older Premier rod that was stolen. This rod casts 3/4 to 1.5 oz lures and has good backbone for handling bigger fish. It has heavier action and is much stiffer than the new premier 7' heàvy action. I am very happy with the tidemaster.
ProsExcellent action for casting and retrieving 1-1 1/2 oz plugs (sp Minnow, 5 1/2" rapala magnum). Stiff and strong to handle larger blues and bass. Butt and fore grip length are perfect. Reasonable price.
ConsI prefer the heavy single footed guides on the older Premier rod I had that had similar heavy action.

Second to None

St Croix Tidemasters are the best in the business for light tackle spinning and trolling along the east coast. I've purchased numerous Tidemaster spinning and conventional rods for use on the Chesapeake, the Inland Waterway in Northern Florida, and off the coast of Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland. Have caught stripers up to 25 pounds, weakfish to 5 pounds, fluke to 4 pounds, red drum to 20 pounds and have even landed multiple 75+ pound cownose rays. I use my seven and eight foot Tidemasters for all light tackle trolling, topwater, jigging and spinning needs. Plus St Croix has an exchange program which is superb and their warranties are the best in the business.

Perfect Inshore Rod
July 13, 2014
I bought this rod for both jigging for fluke and throwing poppers at stripers off the boat and under bridges. It has performed great, love the grip, weight, and feel of this rod!
ConsThis is my second St. Croix I bought this summer. Makes me wanna get rid of my other brands and buy more St. Croix's.

Love this rod!
December 26, 2013
I have this rod paired up with a quantum-cabo spinning reel (size 40) and the pair works great. The rod is super light weight and has a great backbone. Battling fish with this real is fun. You feel the fight of the fish and have the confidence that the rod can take whatever the fish dishes. I liked it so much I got a second. Strongly recommend!

I would put these rods against any of the higher end rod manufacturers (Lamiglas, G Loomis). Great action and backbone. Highly recommended.
ProsAffordable Great action
